Fame At Last...

This evening I'm chatting on the BBC Radio Ulster's Arts Programme... along with my lovely editor Jenny by telephone and the winner of the RTE Mills & Boon writing contest in the studio avec moi...
Fame at Last.
***UDATE*** Yup - I survived - even the part where some of my excerpts were read aloud by BBC DJ'S!!!!!! You can listen to it here if you wanna hear it (hit the listen again key) - and then please come back and tell me I sound like I had a brain...

What time is the interview, Trish? Maybe we'll be able to listen to a replay tomorrow if we miss it tonight?

Janet said...

Ah, it's on now 6.30-7pm! Off to listen

Trish said...

Ooooh Janet did you listen?????

Natasha said...

I've listened. You were wonderful. AM SOOOO PROUD OF YOU.

I'm also completely convinced of the need of the Pink Heart Society. How the heck to thighs ripple????????

Trish said...

Yes rippling thighs could be an act on Britains Got Talent really couldn't they???

Not sure Simon Cowell would vote them through tho...

Natasha said...

That's 'do', obviously. Can't say they read you well though, Trish. I think I'd better give them an acting master class.

Natasha said...

And what do we think of 'bodice ripping'??? I've never ever had a hero rip a bodice off of any of my heroines.

Trish said...

I think in order to have a bodice ripped ones heroine has to be wearing a bodice in the first place.... gotta say am soooooooo tempted to add it into a Modx just for the heck of it!!!!

Anyone DARE ME???

Natasha said...

Oh yes, I think I'm prepared to do that!

Bodice Ripping One-oh-One. If anyone can do it Trish, you can. :-)

Have yet to have a listen. I should be able to through the beeb's listen again thingy.

Just listened - what a shame it was so short, but congratulations to the contest winner.
All three of you handled the usual cringe-making cliches brilliantly!
Ah. Fame indeeed.
One question. Could you possibly manage to slip in some six pack rippling abs - as well as a bodice? I'm thinking gladiator theme party. And it's 7.30 in the morning! LOL.

Trish said...

Ray-Anne HOW can you think of all that at seven thirty in the morning??? All I can think - and I use the term *think* loosely here you understand - is one of three things, depending on the situation the night before -

A/ Must go to bed soon
B/ Coooooffffffffeeeeeee
c/ *snore* mumblemufflerollover *snore*

And I'm glad you thought we all held our own - the competition winner was LOVELY and it turns out lives not far from me which is FAB!!! And actually although a lot of the cliches were flung at us very tongue in cheek (and I can retire now that local *hero* Hugo Duncan has read one of my excerpts roflmao) I think the interviewer did genuinely appreciate the fact that M&B is a phenomenon that just can't be ignored. It's a bit like the internet is radio - you can *hear* or *read* a persons voice but can't see the facial expressions or read the body movements... and she was really very lovely - and her producer was a DARLING. (I left books for the office girls too - White-Hot!, Breathless, Rebel, Bride, Rescued, PP, The Pineapple...so here's hoping they like them?!?)

Right - I've ahd my fifteen minutes - now back to the cave and my *real world* - where DID I leave Gabe??? Gabe??? G-aaa-be?? Here boy....

I found the interview at 6.40 (had to stop and download realplayer before I could listen!) but when it got to 7pm and I hadn't heard you I realised I'd missed it! Tried to replay it but only got Tuesday's program.

But... by 11pm I found I could use the replay for Wednesday so listened to it then. Anyone who missed it should be able to replay it today.

You sounded great, Trish. Very confident and articulate. Weren't you a even tiny bit nervous?

Congratulations Trish - a fab interview, and great to hear your voice!! Thank you so much for posting the link.

Love
Sue :-)

I've tried to listen but can't afford to listen for half an hour, so kept pushing the next five minutes button and didn't find you? ?How far into Wed's art show are you? Hope I'm making sense...

Trish said...

Janet - nervous? HELL YES!!!!! And I stammer loads at the beginning... :( Thanks for perservering!!!

You're welcome Sue - it's kinda weird hearing your own voice back again I have to say - I have a somewhat convoluted (sp?) accent...

Hey Rach - it's pretty much right after the short news piece att he beginning - there's an intro to the arts thing ad then us - and our piece is quite short so you really don't have to listen to the whole half hour - promise!!!

Bravo Trish! I thought you did great. :)

They mentioned webcam... now that would have been really neat!

Not so much Melissa... my family watched it on Webcam and apparently the BACK OF MY HEAD was lovely...

Wonderful! Your brain was right where it was supposed to be. :D I've worked in radio so I know what you went through!

Your accent was not as strong as I had thought it would be, though.

And the guy with the VOICE! They let you bring him home with you, right?

Trish said...

LOL Jackie - which guy with the voice??

And you know the way some people have a *phone voice*? I think that was my phone voice... family tease me about it all the time...

Trish, I really enjoyed the interview - although I cringed when I heard that dreadful phrase - bodice ripper, but I thought that you were fantastic in the interview and I at least appreciated the fact that the interviewer acknowledged that category romance is a genuine phenomena.
